Simplicity, I'll miss TJC

You know, the things that make people happy can be rather simple. I just came across a blog by a senior that says "i like to ride bicycle". This could have easily come from a young child, and initially I saw it as a funny way of putting your favourite pastime across.

But then again, seeing things from a simplistic point of view isn't that bad after all. We are all born as simple beings; we often complicate things for the sake of complicating them. Things are just that simple. Sometimes it's all a game we play in the head.

Simplicity is indeed a bliss. Our mind would be freed from all the complexities of real life. Real life? Man, what's that?

I caught myself smiling at the occasional simple-minded act done by people around me. I am particularly attracted to those who think and act simply, those who refuse to / have yet to corrupt their lives with the excess complexities invented by Man. Which is why I find kids charmingly adorable, and the occasional simplistic blog entry by friends so heart-warming.

Okay, I think I sound a little serious here. Oh yah. I was reading this poetry guidebook, and this section was helping you to identify whether your prose is formal, informal or colloquail. And I think mine falls under informal, which is not what I want (I want a formal prose). I remember wondering why my written works, which were rather serious, can fall into the category of "informal". And I finally realised that being serious does not equate to being formal. And being fun does not equate to being informal too. I am helping myself differentiate between all that.

Back on track. I recall Donald Tang saying that science people experience a simpler form of happiness. Which I find quite true. In this case I am not sure if being simple is that good after all. You'll miss out on the experiences others get. And because literary people think of life (I don't mean all that mechanism and scientific stuff-- I mean life) in an abstract(this word sounds weird) way, the hapiness they feel are slightly different, a little more meaningful. Happiness is more than what comes at face value.

For things like human relations, I'll look at it as simply as possible, but for some others, it will be good to be less simple-minded. (=


Some of the seniors are done with their As and enjoying life now. Some are reminiscing about the past at their colleges. The thought that I'm gonna be in year 2 and graduating is freaking me out. I don't want to leave teejay! *wails like a spoilt brat* I still want to scream at the sight of dragonflies along the track, I still want to feel stupid getting lost (yes I still do) in this humongous college, I still want to go for PDPs every Wednesdays and Fridays, doing CIP for LEO and stuff, I still want to stroll across for lunch at the coffeeshop across the road, there are so many things and people I'll miss once I leave teejay! But why am I worrying about those now? I've still got one year to go! One more year to trasure life at college! Thank goodness!

Next year I'm gonna really cherish life at college. It's good enough to simply feel the existence of the school. Somtimes we just don't pay enough attention to the present mement.

For now, I'll treasure the holidays. I don't think i'll get sick of school next year though, but holidays are hard to come by! :D
