Balancing academic work and workinf on passions

I was just telling tian the other day that I ought to buck up in my studies and now I am relaxing. Ok, it's not exactly as bad as slacking, but I spent the entire weekend writing and reading poems. The NYAA report is not even typed out and chem tutorials not started. I thought I promised myself to complete those since the june holidys.

I'm supposed to be happy because I am working on my poetry, my all-time favourite literary form aka my passion. But I have crossed the line between spending time on my passion and balancing work and play. I've got to improve my time management skills. Or should I say I've got to know my priorities? I know developing my passion for poetry is my top priority now, but spending too much time on it makes me guilty. Then I'll return to mugging, then feel upset for spending too much time on academic work. It’s a weird cycle. I will alternate between studies and poetry, feeling bad every time I devote too much time on each. How much is too much? I am trying to find that out.

That is the beauty of life—it’s an art awaiting our mastery, presenting challenges for us, only to become sweeter as we’ve conquered each problem. Pain is inevitable while attempting to overcome those challenges, but pain is also the catalyst for our growth.
